Here’s the Trump ballot removal 'nugget' that shows how one conservative justice may vote

There is a hidden "nugget" buried in the Colorado Supreme Court's ruling barring Donald Trump from the GOP primary ballot, and it might tell us how one Supreme Court justice will vote, a former federal prosecutor said Saturday.

Legal expert Glenn Kirschner appeared on MSNBC's Yasmin Vossoughian Reports, where he was asked about the various legal cases the former president is currently facing.

Kirschner said that, when it comes to the political arena, Trump "will continue to make arguments that are sort of untethered to the truth and unbound by the rules of evidence." He added, "It will be a very different matter when these cases are in court."

Then, Kirschner told the host that what he really likes is "there is a nugget buried in the ruling from the Colorado Supreme Court."

"What they did was they actually quoted a ruling by then-judge, Neil Gorsuch, on the very question of whether states get to disqualify people from state election ballots. Here is what then-judge Gorsuch said, now of course justice Gorsuch: 'a state's legitimate interest in protecting the integrity and practical functioning of the political process permits the state to exclude from the ballot candidates who are constitutionally prohibited from assuming office.'"

Kirschner further noted, "I have to say, that feels like a little bit of foreshadowing on at least how judge Gorsuch, now justice Gorsuch, will approach this issue."
