Trump-pardoned J6er arrested again for ‘terroristic threats’

On Tuesday, a far-right influencer whom President Donald Trump pardoned for crimes committed during the January 6 insurrection — including the assault of an officer — was arrested in Texas for allegedly making “terroristic threats.”

According to the Dallas Morning News, Florida resident “Jake Lang was booked into the Dallas County jail and faces a charge of terroristic threat to place the public in fear of serious bodily injury, interrupting public services, or influencing a government, according to jail records. His bail is set at $1 million.” The threat involved a statement he made regarding a local murder trial. Lang had asserted that if a black man accused of stabbing a white teenager to death was not found guilty, he “would take care of it himself,” prompting Lang’s arrest.

This is his second arrest within a week due to his actions regarding the case. In April, Lang attended a rally called Protect White Americans outside the stadium where the stabbing occurred. While there he broke into the stadium, later posting a video online in which he pointed to a dark streak on the ground, claiming it was the victim’s blood. Officials, however, said that the stabbing had occurred in an entirely different location. Lang was then arrested on June 2 on charges of “criminal trespass,” before being released the following day on a $7,500 bond under the condition that he not go within 200 feet of the Collin County Courthouse for 30 days. Over the ensuing week, he continued to picket the trial, holding a sign that read “White Lives Matter.”

Last year, Lang was pardoned by Trump while awaiting trial for several charges relating to the attack on the Capitol. According to the Dallas Morning News, Lang posted photos and videos of himself at the riot, and in other posts was shown swinging a baseball bat at police. He was also filmed telling Metropolitan Police Commander Jason Bagshaw that he should be “put down like a dead dog” and "hung" in front of the Capitol. According to prosecutors, “Lang approached Bagshaw and pointed at him, quoting Lang as saying, ‘Public execution is the only solution for animals like you,’ and that Bagshaw needed to be dragged ‘out by his ankles’ and thrown ‘in the Potomac.’”

Before his most recent arrests, Lang had already had a run-in with Texas police over his violent statements. In April, he attended a Frisco City Council meeting to oppose plans for a new mosque, Hindu temple, and Jain temple. Reportedly, he showed up wearing an army green vest and Confederate flag patch, warning that Muslims and Hindus were taking over Texas before being escorted out by police after threatening to burn down mosques.

According to an analysis by Lawfare, at least 97 of the nearly 1,600 J6 rioters pardoned by Trump have gone on to commit further crimes such as stalking, grand larceny, planning the assassination of public officials, reckless homicide, and child molestation.
