U.S. President Donald Trump gestures as he boards Air Force One en route to Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, to attend a world leaders' summit on ending the Gaza war, amid a U.S.-brokered prisoner-hostage swap
Former Republican strategist Steve Schmidt says President Donald Trump is clueless about the repercussions of his war in Iran on American families, so much so that he’s about to give the Iran thing another go, this time a mere 90 miles from U.S. shores.
“When Donald Trump gives the order for Americans to invade Cuba, like the order he gave in Iran, it will not be cost-free,” said Schmidt on his Wednesday podcast. “Americans will die. But more than that, it will cost astounding amounts of money. Billions of dollars. Maybe a billion a day. Just like Iran. That money's not going to Kentucky, New Mexico, Ohio, Florida.”
There is no evidence that the Cuban military will roll over for an American invasion, or that Cuban leader Raul Castro will fly in to respond to the indictment Trump lodged against him.
“All of this loose talk is made by men who do not put their bodies in harm's way, who will not fast rappel off a helicopter into the compound and go through the door,” said Schmidt, likely referring to Trump’s multiple military deferments as a young man. “The men at the tip of the spear deserve better than men like [interim AG] Todd Blanche and [FBI head] Kash Patel, [Secretary of Defense] Pete Hegseth, and Donald Trump sitting around the Situation Room table gambling with their lives. But unfortunately, the American people made sure that America's soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines are led by the most malicious, the most incompetent, and the most depraved leaders the United States has ever seen.”
“He loves sending other people's kids into harm's way, particularly when he's able to make a buck off of it, when there's a mineral deal to be cut,” insisted Schmidt, who insisted that Trump “doesn't see family men, husbands, wives, sons or daughters” when he looks at an American in uniform. He sees a toy soldier, and he's not interested in anything or anyone except his power.
And Cuba will be the “worst pursuit that can be pursued,” said Schmidt, because it will bring war closer to the American homeland than it has been in recent history.
“When Donald Trump promised he wouldn't start stupid wars that was a broken promise and America now today stands at the edge of yet another catastrophe, another war — this time 90 miles from Miami, within range of a Cuban drone,” warned Schmidt. “Donald Trump is unfit. He's dumb. We're losing the war in Iran. God help us if we lose a war to Cuba.”
