Trump PAC plots 8-figure spend to target Indiana GOP opposing mid-decade gerrymander

Politico reports a group of Trump-aligned super PACs are working to oust Indiana Republicans who have opposed flagrant mid-decade redistricting giving Republicans a boost in preserving their House majority.

Andrew Kolvet, spokesperson for Turning Point, told POLITICO that the group would partner with other aligned PACs to dedicate an “eight-figure spend” to “primary people that are standing in the way of the president’s agenda.”

“We look at Indiana as a test case and a cautionary tale, potentially one or the other, it’s their choice,” said Kolvet. “This is a super high priority, and we’re going to be working with the local, grassroots to make sure their voices heard and their priorities are not steamrolled by an out-of-touch elected class.”

Politico reports Indiana state House Republicans released a draft congressional map earlier this week that would flip the state's congressional map from a Republican advantage of 7-to-2 to 9-to-0. But the effort has faced resistance from some of the state’s Republicans, including Senate President Pro Tem Rodric Bray, who remains opposed to the plan.

Other opposition comes from state senator Michael Bohacek (R), who announced he would not be supporting Trump's mid-decade redistricting plan after he called Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) a slur. The Republican lawmaker said on his official Facebook page that as a parent of a child with Down Syndrome, he couldn't endorse Trump's plan due to his use of the word.

Despite Republicans having a 40-10 supermajority in the chamber, it has repeatedly rejected Trump’s calls — including by recent vote to adjourn. Around the same time that was happening in mid-November.

Some Indiana Republicans are already getting threats of violence from MAGA elements angered that they are opposing the power grab, with nearly a dozen state lawmakers reporting that they have been the victims of SWAT or doxing attempts.
