Trump's wild hair spawns wild theories

President Donald Trump has long been famous for his blonde locks, which supporters tend to describe as natural and detractors usually claim are somehow fake. The president, who reportedly uses the hair restoration medicine finasteride, unintentionally gave the latter camp’s argument a boost in the immediate aftermath of his recent Las Vegas rally, an event at which Trump’s hair made a surprise appearance.

“President Donald Trump’s appearance in Las Vegas on Wednesday has given way to speculation about a possible hair boost, with people on social media noting the president had particularly thicker-looking hair during his speech,” reported Forbes’ Antonio Pequeño IV on Thursday. “Photos taken of Trump during the speech at Red Rock Casino Resort appear to show a more full and colorful hairstyle than recent public appearances.”

Pequeño added, “Some users on X questioned if Trump was wearing a wig, with supporters using the appearance to praise his look.”

According to Pequeño, Trump’s hair appeared to be a comb-over but had also been seemingly thinner when he met with reporters aboard Air Force One on the previous Sunday.

“Trump has a weave!!” former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-ILL) tweeted, according to Pequeño, who added that “Kinzinger made the comment while reposting a photo from the Democratic Party’s official X account showing Trump’s seemingly thinner hair in the recent past.”

During that same rally, Trump seemingly admitted that his war against Iran had caused oil prices to go up, although he at the same time has previously denied that affordability is an issue in America at all.

“When oil goes down, and it's going to go down very rapidly and is already happening, we may have to send it up again, we may have to -- you know what happens when we send it up,” Trump told the audience of supporters. “But we don't have to. But when that oil and gasoline go down, everything else follows. But we have done a great job at reducing prices and we have done an unbelievable job in making our country really, really respected and successful again.”

Trump’s hair is so well-known that one of his ongoing biographers, journalist/author Michael Wolff, argued last year that Trump’s hair helped him win reelection in 2024.

Describing former President Joe Biden, Wolff said that “he looks gray. He's washed-out. You know, his hair is — what's left of it — is gray. The skin is gray. The suits are gray. And Trump would point out, 'Look at him. Nobody even sees him. Everybody notices me.' Which is absolutely true."

Wolff added, "And side by side, you know, who do you notice? You notice this guy — this appalling-looking guy who is Donald Trump, and not just the relatively normal old man-looking guy that Biden was."

His hair is an integral part of that, Wolff continued.
