Trump demands apology from 'failing third-rate psycho' Forbes for dropping him from wealthiest people list

Former President Donald Trump has long had a love/hate relationship with the mainstream media.

On one hand, Trump angrily rails against CNN, MSNBC and the New York Times as "fake news" and "enemies of the people." On the other hand, Trump craves media attention. And he is demanding an apology from Forbes Magazine for dropping him from its wealthiest people list.

Forbes released its latest Forbes 400 list in early October, and Trump wasn't on it. Topping the list was Tesla/SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, with Amazon's Jeff Bezos at #2. Former Microsoft CEO Bill Gates was once the wealthiest person in the world, but Forbes now puts him at #6.

Forbes said of Trump, "With an estimated $2.6bn fortune, he is $300m shy of the cutoff for the Forbes 400 ranking of America's richest people, the annual measurement that Trump has obsessed over for decades, relentlessly lying to reporters to try to vault himself higher on the list."

On October 11, Trump slammed Forbes on his Truth Social platform and wrote, "I hereby demand a full apology from the failing Forbes Magazine, and their third rate psycho writer, Dan Alexander, for the many false and libelous articles they have written about me, and for the cooperation they have given to the Racist and Incompetent A.G. of New York State, Peekaboo James. You see, Forbes is owned by the Communist Chinese Government, and China will do anything to stop MAGA. Forbes, a Globalist 'Rag,' is a propaganda play against TRUMP."

In recent decades, Trump has been on the Forbes 400 list more often than not.

The Guardian's Martin Pengelly notes, "Trump, 77, has fallen off the Forbes list before — first in 1990, when his real-estate empire was struggling. He also fell off the list in 2021, in the aftermath of his chaotic presidency and amid the COVID pandemic. He returned to the list in 2022."
