U.S. President Donald Trump dances during a campaign rally for U.S. Senator Darline Graham (R-SC) at the Myrtle Beach Convention Center in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, U.S., August 21, 2026.
On Friday, a family member of President Donald Trump connected the dots between his famous YMCA dance and his old pal, notorious sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. According to his niece, psychologist Mary Trump, a recent clip of her uncle’s signature dance reveals its Epstein-linked origins while contributing to concerns about the president's health.
“Donald continues his streak of campaigning for Republican candidates in only the deepest of deep red states, and he wrapped up the latest rally with a very familiar, cringeworthy performance,” said Mary Trump before showing a clip of the president’s YMCA shimmy. “That is a man whose ego is so huge and fragile and who is so unselfaware that he actually thinks people enjoy watching him do whatever it is he's doing there.”
Here she offers a number of observations. “As Donald is leaving the stage,” she notes, “he's tapping his leg, which he's been doing quite frequently, like as he's trying to wake his leg up to remind him that he needs it to walk.” She’s not the first to notice such behavior. According to one widely cited psychologist, the president has been displaying “glitches” in his movements and speech with growing frequency, and the involuntary motions appear to have spread from the left side of his body to the right, suggesting “the dysfunctional pathways are crossing the brain” due to a stroke, dementia, or some other brain injury.
Data indicates that Americans are widely skeptical of Trump’s mental and physical health. Polling in February showed that 61 percent believed he was becoming “more erratic with age," and that was before he launched war with Iran, a move that cratered his approval to historic lows. A poll in April showed that 48 percent think he’s experienced modest or significant cognitive decline while 51 percent think he’s experienced modest or severe physical decline. A more recent survey showed 46 percent rate his mental sharpness as “poor.” What’s more, 61 percent believe that his administration isn’t being truthful about his condition, a suspicion that grew when it was revealed he received an unusual number of hospital check-ups over the course of 2025.
Mary Trump continued with another note on the video, saying, “and then in the middle, I caught the mediocre white man underbite.” A close appraisal of Trump’s dance clip shows that she’s referring to a moment in the dance when he bites his lower lip. “I have seen him do that before,” says Mary Trump. “Where, oh, where was it?” Here she flashes to an infamous video from 1992 of her uncle making the same expression while ogling women alongside Jeffrey Epstein.
