GOP 'has only two flavors': Lawyer suggests 'bold MAGA' fans are actually 'scared' of Trump

During Monday's episode of MSNBC's Deadline: White House, Democracy Docket founder Marc Elias suggested that seemingly "bold MAGA" members are actually scared of former President Donald Trump and his base.

Guest host Alicia Menendez played a clip of Wisconsin fake elector, attorney and ex-chairman of the state's GOP, Andrew Hitt, explaining to CNN's Anderson Cooper in a Sunday, February 18 interview that Trump wanted "to throw out mail-in votes."

Cooper said, "The Trump campaign wanted the votes in Dane County and Milwaukee County tossed," asking Hitt, "Did you support that idea?"

He replied, "Iit wasn't something that I was comfortable with."

Cooper then asked, "Personally you did not believe all those absentee ballots should be thrown out?"

Hitt replied, "Well, I voted that way," before Cooper asked, "You didn't think your own vote should be thrown out?"

The fake elector replied, "No."

Menendez turned to Elias, saying, "I mean, the chef's kiss there, pretty incredible, Marc, that even Trump's fake electors, they voted by mail. "

Elias replied, "Yeah. Look, the Republican party only has two flavors. There is bold MAGA and scared MAGA. They all act like bold MAGA in public but a lot of them are just scared MAGA. They are afraid of Donald Trump. They're afraid of his base. And the net result, though, for voters is the same. Whether that man meant to or not, whether he in his heart of hearts believed it or not, the result was the same. Which is that I wound up having to go to court to prevent Donald Trump from throwing those ballots out. I had the honor of representing President Biden and the DNC in that case. But it was a hare's whisker from the results winding up the other way, and it was no thanks to a single Republican in the state. Neither the bold MAGA nor the scared MAGA were willing to stand up to him."
