Calls grow for GOP OK commissioner to resign over allegations he groped a man while drunk

Republican Todd Hiett has a long history in Oklahoma politics, serving as speaker of the Oklahoma House of Representatives during the 2000s before joining the Oklahoma Corporation Commission in 2015.

But now, one of Hiett's colleagues — fellow Commissioner Bob Anthony — Is calling for his resignation in response to allegations that he groped a man while drunk at the Mid-America Regulatory Conference in Minneapolis on June 9.

According to Storme Jones, a reporter KWTV Channel 9 (a CBS affiliate in Oklahoma City), a witness alleges that Hiett was "very, very intoxicated" during that incident.

Hiett told Channel 9 News that he has "no memory" of the incident but acknowledged that he has "fallen into the trap of using alcohol to combat stress."

Hiett told the station, "I acknowledge the seriousness of this situation, and upon learning of this event, I immediately sought treatment."

Hiett, however, said he will not resign. And Anthony is adamant in calling for his resignation.

In an official statement, Anthony said, "I also sought out details about the specific June 9 incident in Minnesota that Commissioner Hiett claims he cannot remember…. The behavior that has been described is beyond 'inappropriate' or 'offensive' and is no 'joke.' It is horrifying, disgusting, and probably criminal. Alcohol is no excuse for it."
