From 2017-2020, attorney Noel J. Francisco served as solicitor general during the first Trump Administration.
Francisco went on to join a major law firm, Jones Day, after leaving the White House in July 2020.
Now, according to the Washington Reporter, he is representing TikTok and its parent company ByteDance at the firm.

TikTok is facing being banned from the United States online. Its attorneys in the U.S. have been fighting the possible ban, but on Friday, December 6, according to CNN, an appeals court upheld the ban.
TikTok has the option of separating itself from its China-based parent company ByteDance in order to continue operating in the U.S. But unless it agrees to such a separation, TikTok would be unavailable online in the U.S. as of January 19, 2025.
During his years as solicitor general, Francisco was an unwavering Trump defender. And he joined then-President Donald Trump in his vehement opposition to the Affordable Care Act of 2010, a.k.a. Obamacare.
Francisco tried to get Obamacare thrown out in the courts but was unsuccessful in his efforts.
