'Point blank': Rubio spox enrages MAGA with resurfaced claim US is second fiddle to Israel

Some of President Donald Trump staunch MAGA allies — including "War Room" host Steve Bannon and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) — have been expressing their vehement opposition to the United States going to war against Iran. And after Trump ordered military strikes against Iran on Saturday, June 21, MTG argued that getting involved in the Israel/Iran conflict is inconsistent with the "America First" ideology.

Now, some MAGA Republicans are angry over resurfacing comments that Tammy Bruce, a spokesperson for Secretary of State Marco Rubio, made on May 8.

Bruce, once a liberal feminist and National Organization for Women (NOW) organizer but now a hard-right Trump supporter known for her work at Fox News, told Newsweek that the U.S. sits "next to Israel" in being the greatest country in the world. With that comment resurfacing, Bruce is drawing some biting criticism from MAGA users on X, formerly Twitter.

David J. Freeman, a.k.a. Gunther Eagleman, tweeted, "America is the best country. Point blank. I'd tag Tammy Bruce but she has me blocked."

X user MAGA Man posted, "I'm sorry but she needs to be relieved of her duties effective immediately."

Bruce, however, insists that her comments from May are being taken out of context.

Bruce told Newsweek, "My work obviously speaks for itself, which is a reflection of my love for the United States, as I said in that interview, the greatest country on Earth. The assertion by certain anonymous users online is a typically out-of-context and absurd effort to create fake news for clicks and to smear."
