U.S. Supreme Court's Friday ruling rejecting the Trump administration's stance over the deportation of Venezuelan migrants has been praised by immigration rights activists and political commentators on social media.
The court found that the administration had violated the due process rights of over 200 Venezuelan immigrants who were deported to El Salvador under the 1798 Alien Enemies Act.
The ruling prevents Trump from carrying out any further deportations under that law. It directs lower courts to ensure that any future deportations comply with constitutional standards.

Interestingly, all three of President Donald Trump's Supreme Court appointees — Amy Coney Barrett, Neil Gorsuch, and Brett Kavanaugh — ruled against his administration in this case. Justices Samuel Alito and Clarence Thomas dissented.
Reacting to the decision, immigration lawyer Aaron Reichlin-Melnickwrote on the social platform X: "The Supreme Court makes clear AGAIN that the Trump administration cannot throw people onto plane with little to no notice. Those subject to the Alien Enemies Act MUST be given given time to contact a lawyer, file a habeas lawsuit, and pursue the case. Anything less is illegal."
Research analyst Cody Fenwick said: "It is a strange turn of events that the two conservative justices most likely to side with Trump on his extreme actions does not include any of the three justices he appointed."
Polling USA's account wrote: "Now, does this ruling actually enforce itself or does it do the same thing a previous ruling did where they just go 'Well you need to stop, but meh, were not going to force you to do it'"
