'Smarten up': Michael Cohen urges 'Rudy Colludy' and Roger Stone to stop 'appeasing' Donald Trump
17 August 2023
Michael Cohen, ex-President Donald Trump's former fixer who hosts the Mea Culpa podcast and authored the book Revenge: How Donald Trump Weaponized the US Department of Justice Against His Critics, told MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace on Thursday's edition of Deadline White House that Trump allies such as Rudy Giuliani and Roger Stone would be wise to remember how his affiliation with Trump collapsed after Trump stopped paying his legal bills.
Wallace stated that "Michael Cohen was an effective spokesperson. He was all in on Trump. You know the rest of it though, until he wasn't, until he couldn't be, and nobody knows better than Michael Cohen what the consequences are for walking the walk when it comes to Trump. Here's his advice today for Rudy Giuliani quote, 'I wouldn't hold my breath. He didn't pay you for your previous services. You have a better chance to raise the money from your ex-wives.'"
Speaking to Cohen, Wallace continued, "These stories taken individually are riveting. But I needed to talk to you about the portrait coming into focus because you know what is getting real. There are real charges, real prosecutions, and real jail time on the line, something that you know all too well is in many instances, the natural sort of through line of service to Donald Trump."

Cohen wasted no time recalling how Trump broke his trust and why he is so baffled that Stone, as well as Giuliani — who was indicted along with Trump and seventeen others by Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis for allegedly conspiring to steal Georgia's sixteen Electoral College votes after he lost the 2020 election to President Joe Biden — still appear to be maintaining their fealty to Trump.
"Only you Nicolle get me on the first vacation that I'm having with my family in five years. Only you can get me and it's six hours ahead of you to miss dinner with my family on vacay because if this is important," Cohen said. "Watching those videos of myself, I wanna smack myself in the head, and so I did truly believe that he was going to try to become a great president and a president for all Americans. Unfortunately, I was wrong."
Cohen opined that he "was an incredibly effective spokesperson for him because I did truly believe that he wanted to do right by America and not to create an autocracy, which is what he ultimately decided the second that he won in 2016 that he wanted," Cohen opined. "And as it is becoming real for the rest of these eighteen individuals, let me tell you, to each and every one of them, and I've been saying it literally since my House Oversight Committee hearing when I said it to Mark Meadows or to 'Gym Bag' Jordan, I said it to all of them. I know what he's capable of. I know what has happened to me. And rest assured what's happened to me will happen to you if you don't smarten up."
Wallace responded with a supplemental observation.

"I didn't show those clips to embarrass you or make you cringe. I showed them because I think that Rudy Giuliani or Roger Stone, they think they're different and they're not different, right?" Wallace asked Cohen.
"Nicolle, not only are they not different, let me be very clear about something. I had a decade-plus relationship with Donald Trump and we saw that the only way for me to collect the monies that was owed in legal fees, was to sue him, which took four years," Cohen replied.
"Donald does not have a longstanding friendship or relationship with Rudy Colludy. He does not," Cohen added. "In fact, he has even less of that relationship with Roger Stone, who he never thought much of in the first place. But yet they are all appeasing and they are all playing to a party of one. For what reason? I don't know."
