Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) is calling on his colleagues to develop a "battle strategy" against Republican "attacks", as the Democrats to select a new party chair, according to Politico.
Following Vice President Kamala Harris' loss to President-elect Donald Trump — in addition to a slew of Democratic House and Senate race losses — Politico reports the Rhode Island lawmaker argues the party needs an "institutional and centralized setup to attack the GOP, writing Republicans 'rapidly and effectively deploy false narratives, while we struggle to bring true ones to bear.'"
To fight back against the right-wing lawmakers, Whitehouse wrote in a letter to party chairs on Monday that building a "war machine" is the only way.

The Democratic leader wrote, "We in Congress customarily say we’re 'fighting' for things when we really mean working or toiling."
He added, "A fight means a defined adversary, a battle strategy, and actual punches thrown. Done well, it involves exposing and degrading your adversary’s machinery of warfare."
With several contenders in the running — including spiritual adviser and former presidential candidate Marianne Williamson, and former Maryland Governor Martin O'Malley — The Democrats are expected to select the new Democratic National Committee chair in February.
