Scaramucci disinvited from Florida GOP fundraiser after he 'infuriated' county board by calling Trump's comments 'racist'

One-time White House Director of Communications Anthony Scaramucci has been disinvited from a Palm Beach County GOP fundraiser after speaking out against Trump’s “racially charged” comments about Democratic congresswomen, Politico reports.

Scaramucci — whose illustrious career as Trump’s mouthpiece shined bright for 10 days before flaming out during a dramatic, profanity-laden interview with New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza — will no longer be attending the Aug. 15 “Lobsterfest” event after he “infuriated” the board by criticizing the president, according to county Republican Party chairman Michael A. Barnett.

That’s right, Scaramucci will no longer be headlining the 18th annual GOP fundraiser, but attendees can still pay $165 to rub elbows with GOP Congressman Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Roger Stone, according to a flier on the Lobsterfest homepage.

“He suggested the president’s comments were racist and that he was becoming a racist.” Barnett told Politico.“Our board was infuriated.”

Barnett said the group “believe the tweets were not racist, the president is not racist and that Scaramucci’s comments were unfair.”

Scaramucci made the comments at issue on the BBC Tuesday, telling the “Today” program that Trump’s attack on a group of progressive Democratic congresswomen was “racially charged.” The former White House spokesman also tweeted his thoughts on Trump's comments:

For his part, Scaramucci said he’s “sorry” he’s no longer be attending the event, located 30 minutes from his former boss’ Mar-a-Lago resort.

Mike Barnett must like and condone racist comments. Someone with more courage and less political expediency would call it for what it is and ask it to stop,” he surmised.
