Jackson is the latest to voice his discontent with Trump's relentless attacks on the NFL, a fight that marks the president's latest political calculus in his favorite culture war du jour. Monday, Trump disinvited Super Bowl winners the Philadelphia Eagles from the White House after incorrectly accusing those players of kneeling during the national anthem.

Trump has his own problematic relationship with the national anthem. As the Washington Post reports, Trump has appeared to forget the lyrics to songs like the national anthem and “God Bless America” at least four times since he assumed the presidency.
