Conservative provocateur and long-time ally of the president Roger Stone sought advanced copies of WikiLeaks' hacked emails ahead of the 2016 election, according to a new report from the Wall Street Journal.
Stone was not officially a member of the President Donald Trump's campaign in September 2016 when he reportedly emailed a radio host to make a request of group leader Julian Assange for information on Hillary Clinton.
But Stone has reportedly become a major figure in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into potential collusion with the Russin government's efforts to interfere in the campaign.
Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) told the Journal that he was not aware of the emails but that they suggest that Stone either lied or presented incomplete information to Congress.
