United States Representative George Santos (R-New York) claimed on Wednesday that the thirteen-count federal indictments filed against him by the Department of Justice on Tuesday amount to a "witch hunt" and that the real focus should be on President Joe Biden and his family.
I have to "fight to defend myself. The reality is, is it's a witch hunt because it makes no sense that in four months, four months, five months, I'm indicted. You have Joe Biden's entire family receiving deposits from nine, nine family members receiving money from foreign, from foreign destinations into their bank accounts," Santos droned.
Despite an uproar of jeers from the press, Santos continued.

"It's been years of exposing. A lot of you here have reported on them, and yet no investigation is launched into them. I'm gonna fight I well, and I'm just going, I'm getting back to that. I'm gonna fight my battle, I'm gonna deliver, I'm gonna fight the witch hunt," Santos declared. "I'm gonna take care of clearing my name, and I look forward to doing that."
Reporters were not the only people to heckle Santos. On social media, additional ridicule of the embattled congressman ensued, with many comparing him to former President Donald Trump.
Cheesy Gordita Brett: "Well I'm definitely not voting for Hunter Biden now."
Chidi: "He's following Trump's playbook."
