Rep. George Santos of Queens and Long Island has been inundated with blistering criticism for all the lies he told during his 2022 campaign, from falsely claiming that his grandparents were Holocaust survivors to saying that his mother was killed at the World Trade Center during the 9/11 terror attacks. Nonetheless, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy is in no hurry to see him go.
But most voters in his state, according to a new Siena College poll, have a very different view. Siena reports that 59 percent of registered voters in New York State believe that Santos should resign. And that includes many Republicans.
Almost half of GOP voters surveyed by Siena would like to see Santos resign. By a margin of three to one, New York State voters hold an unfavorable view of the embattled congressman.

Despite all the criticism, however, Santos has vowed to serve out his full two-year term.
