'Not gonna cry about this': Nikki Haley panics following leak of her nonprofit's dark money donors

Former Republican South Carolina Governor and United States Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley has responded to Politico's report from last Friday that the names of dark money donors to her nonprofit had been leaked to the publication.

"The organization Documented, which describes itself as a nonpartisan government watchdog that investigates money in politics, obtained an unredacted copy of Stand For America’s 2019 filings, which it then shared with POLITICO," the outlet explained. "The group did not share the original source of the filing, but it bears a stamp from the charity office of the New York state attorney general."

Politico noted that "the disclosures provide the clearest picture yet of how a prospective 2024 presidential candidate is cultivating a secret network of high-dollar contributors as she builds a political apparatus. And the names of her donors demonstrate the deep connections Haley has formed at the top levels of the Republican Party, with some of the GOP’s biggest super PAC donors among those who gave money to fund the launch of her organization after she left the Trump administration."

On Tuesday morning, Haley decried the revelations during an appearance on Fox News.

“We’re not gonna cry about this, we’re not gonna whine about this, we're gonna fight this and we are filing a lawsuit against the New York State Attorney General's office. We are going to [Attorney General] Merrick Garland and saying this is a federal tax crime and we want him to investigate that office. Now I'm not thinking he's gonna do that but we're certainly gonna make him answer for it," she complained to host Dana Perino.

Haley declared that an unspecified "they" are "trying to intimidate conservatives. And what I will say is, every conservative out there: if you are tired of seeing how they're weaponizing government, if you're tired of seeing what they did to President [Donald] Trump, if you're tired of seeing what they did to the N[ational] R[ifle] A[ssociation], and to our pro-life groups, join us and unite in this fight."
