'Audition for the No 2 slot': Ex-DOJ attorney describes MTG’s new book as 'score-settling fiction'

U.S. Representative Marjorie Taylor Green (R-GA) has successfully distanced herself from many House Republican colleagues as a result of her hard-right priorities, persistent efforts to put ex-President Donald Trump back in the White House, calls to impeach President Joe Biden, and much more.

Former U.S. Department of Justice attorney Lloyd Green shares his thoughts on the GOP lawmaker's new book, MTG — in which she spews much of the same extremist rhetoric she has on the House floor — in a Sunday review for The Guardian.

Green notes that former army ranger Jason Crow previously told The Guardian, "Marjorie Taylor Greene doesn't exist in the same reality as the rest of us. For those of us who were there on January 6 and actually defended the chamber from violent insurrectionists, her view is patently false. She doesn't know what she's talking about."

In the same vein, the former DOJ lawyer writes, in her book, "Greene lies about January 6. She claims Democrats abandoned the House chamber to the rioters and exited without resistance, in contrast to brave, gun-toting Republicans."

Crow "was among Democrats who stood their ground and helped members of Congress escape," Green adds.

He writes, "In her book, she also offers a meandering defense of her famous comment about so-called Jewish space lasers, insisting she is not antisemitic. Instead, Green advises, she has 'donated to the Temple Institute in Israel, a fund that helps rebuild the Jewish temple on the Temple Mount in Israel'."

Green also notes, "In MTG, Greene proudly admits calling Lauren Boebert, a Colorado congresswoman and rival rightwing rabble rouser, a 'little b—h'," adding, "Greene has also reportedly referred to Boebert as a 'whore'."

Overall, the ex-DOJ official suggests the "more than 275" pager "duly reads like an audition for the No 2 slot on the 2024 Republican presidential ticket."

According to Green, the Georgia lawmaker told the news outlet earlier this year that she recognizes her "name is on a list" of possible vice president contenders, "but really my biggest focus right now is serving the district that elected me. But, of course, that's up to [Trump]. But I would be honored and consider it … I'll help him do whatever in any way I can," she said.

"Venom, score-settling, fiction, self-absolution, self-aggrandizement. Greene's book, MTG, has it all," Green writes. "It is published by Winning Team, the publishing firm Donald Trump Jr co-founded. In an unforced error, the book was printed in Canada. So much for America First."
