Michael Flynn insists he doesn’t know if Trump 'devolved the government' in 2020

Ex-adviser to former President Donald Trump Michael Flynn insisted he has "no idea" whether the former president "devolved the government" after President Biden won the presidency in 2020.

The phrase "devolved the government," according to Reuters comes from the idea conservative conspiracy theorists push that Trump actually did not lose the 2020 election.

This comes after the 2024 hopeful, once again, boldly pushed his election fraud theories during CNN's town hall earlier this week.

The ex-Trump official's comment also comes as the former president anticipates possible criminal charges in Georgia for attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

@PatriotTakes posted a clip from a conservative Reawaken America Tour Friday night event via Twitter, writing, "Michael Flynn says he 'has no idea' if Trump devolved the government before leaving office. The devolution conspiracy theorists who believe the military is currently in control of the government will see that as not a denial."

A conference attendee asked the group of GOPers on stage, which included Flynn, "Gentlemen, I just want to know if y'all are familiar with the theory of devolution and do we have any hope that President Trump might have devolved the government before he left office?"

The host first asked "General Flynn," who said, "I have no idea," before asking two other GOPers on stage, who also replied, "I have no idea, either."

The audience erupted into laughter.

Per Reuters, the phrase "devolved the government" is a "part of the QAnon conspiracy theory, that Trump knew the 2020 election would be stolen and made use of emergency laws to enter a state of 'devolution.'"

Furthermore, Reuters reports "according to this theory, known as the Devolution theory, Trump is actually still in office and never lost an election."

The Washington Post reported earlier this week, in addition to Trump's possible Georgia charges, Department of Justice special counsel Jack Smith is also currently "investigating whether Trump or those around him broke the law in seeking to hold on to power by fanning false and incendiary claims that the election was stolen, pressuring state and federal officials to assist the effort, and sending thousands of supporters who heard him speak at a Jan. 6 rally to march to the Capitol."
