Why Michael Cohen will continue to face death threats: legal expert

Just days after former President Donald Trump was found guilty on all 34 felony counts in his New York hush money trial, former Trump lawyer, and witness, Michael Cohen was doxxed on Monday, according to NBC News.

NBC reported, "Phone numbers and addresses for Cohen's wife and children were posted early Monday on a site that has been used to target other figures involved in Trump’s various legal issues, according to Advance Democracy, a nonprofit research group."

MSNBC legal correspondent Lisa Rubin spoke with Katy Tur Reports host Katy Tur Tuesday about the matter.

"Michael Cohen is, according to some people — not me — a central witness leading to Trump's conviction. And because of that, he's on the receiving end of everything from death threats to doxing that includes sending pizzas to his house. He funnily told one of our colleagues that he had Domino's sent to his house — he didn't know domino's exist in manhattan. But this isn't a laughing matter at all.

He will continue to be on the receiving end of threats so long as Republicans continue to fight against and tell lies about the trial that led to Donald Trump's conviction here in manhattan. I feel for him and his family right now."

Tur added, "Yeah, and it's not just Michael Cohen. There's an active effort to figure out the identities of the jurors so that they can be targeted as well."

Cohen, who played a major role in the hush money scheme to keep adult film star Stormy Daniels quiet in 2016, told NBC in a statement Monday, "What sad times we are living through when people resort to this type of doxxing stupidity to redress their grievances."
