'They're just two-faced': Mother of fallen Capitol cop torches Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell

The mother of Brian Sicknick, the United States Capitol Police officer who died the day after he defended the Capitol during former President Donald Trump's January 6th, 2021 insurrection, blasted Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-California) following Tuesday's presentation of Congressional Gold Medals to surviving first responders and their families.

The recipients refused to shake hands with McCarthy or McConnell at the end of the ceremony, which was led by outgoing House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-California).

"They’re just two-faced," Gladys Sicknick told CNN's Daniella Diaz. "I'm just tired of them standing there and saying how wonderful the Capitol Police is and then they turn around and … go down to Mar-A-Lago and kiss his ring and come back and stand here and sit with — It just, it just hurts."

The bereaved Sicknick was not the only relative to express disgust over GOP genuflexion to Trump.

David Badash of The New Civil Rights Movementpreviously noted:

Ken Sicknick, Brian’s brother, told CBS News’ Scott Macfarlane, 'whatever hold that Trump has on them, they backstopped and danced – they won’t admit to wrongdoing' by Trump and the rioters.

Sicknick went on to blast U.S. Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX), 'who presented an American flag, flown over the Capitol, to a January 6 rioter, and told them they were a ‘patriot,’ it’s disgusting. Takes away everything my brother’s done.'

'Unlike Liz Cheney, they have no idea what integrity is,' Sicknick said of Republicans.
