Larry Hogan-appointed circuit court judge shot in MD driveway before dying at hospital

On Thursday night, October 19, a shooting was reported near Hagerstown in Washington County, Maryland. The Herald-Mail is reporting that the victim was Washington County Circuit Court Judge Andrew F. Wilkinson.

According to Herald-Mail reporter Julie E. Greene, "Wilkinson, 52, was found in a residential driveway suffering from what appeared to be gunshot wounds, the release states. He was taken to Meritus Medical Center near Hagerstown, where he was later pronounced dead."

Wilkinson's death, Greene reports, was confirmed by Sgt. Carly Hose of the Washington County Sheriff's Department. And Circuit Court Administrative Judge Brett R. Wilson, according to Green, confirmed to the Herald-Mail that a judge in that county had been attacked and was later pronounced dead.

Greene notes, "Wilkinson was sworn in as a circuit court judge on January 10, 2020, after being appointed by then Gov. Larry Hogan…. Before taking the bench, Wilkinson had a solo practice."
