Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) on Friday will announce his decision not to run for president in 2024, NBC News reports, citing “two sources familiar with the decision.”
The NBC News report notes Manchin spent “months mulling a bid” against presumed Democratic candidate President Joe Biden and likely Republican candidate Donald Trump.
Per the report:
Manchin, 76, had said last November that he would not seek re-election to his Senate seat this year, leading to speculation that he would run for the White House as an independent or as a third-party candidate.
