Cracks have been showing in the MAGA movement recently due to infighting over issues like the war with Iran, the mishandling of the Epstein files and the perception that President Donald Trump has betrayed his “America First” campaign promises. Among the many prominent MAGA names trading media blows are far-right provocateur Laura Loomer and ex-Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who have been fighting online. Now the former has escalated their war of words, accusing the latter of insider trading and fleeing the country.
“Looks like MTG has been planning her escape from America for a while,” Loomer posted on Monday. “In 2024, I reported how a source told me she bought a $5 million home in Costa Rica. Source tells me MTG just sold her home in Rome, Georgia and moved to Costa Rica with [former Real America's Voice White House Correspondent Brian Glenn]. All that insider trading sure paid off. She just posted this photo of her new home in Costa Rica on Instagram. She abandoned her constituents and fled the country.”
This accusation is attached to a photo shared by Greene of two mugs on a railing overlooking a tropical landscape. "I'm so thankful to start the next chapter with Glenn," read the caption. Glenn recently quit his job as a White House correspondent after Trump made a joke about Greene.
In a follow-up comment, Loomer posted an alleged receipt for the sale of Greene’s Rome home dated March 19. It indicates that the 5,000 square foot house sold for $1.1 million.
“This is proof she was always planning to leave Congress,” Loomer asserted. “She just used President Trump as a scapegoat for abandoning her constituents and fleeing the country. ... Does this mean she’s now a foreigner?”
Loomer’s claims drew widespread condemnation of Greene from many of the top pro-Trump meme accounts.
This is only the latest installment in the MAGA breakup saga that kicked off earlier this year after the president received criticism from top far-right media personalities like Tucker Carlson, Alex Jones, Joe Rogan and Candace Owens, prompting Trump to lash out that they were “Low IQ,” “easy to beat” and “really dumb and mentally ill.”
Through this wave of MAGA defections, Loomer has remained a dogged Trump loyalist. She rose to prominence after releasing a list of White House officials she said had betrayed MAGA and that Trump should fire, and in recent months, has made Greene, Carlson and Representative Thomas Massie (R-KY) targets of her ire in particular. When she’s not feuding with those on the right, she continues to spread the conspiracy that former President Barack Obama is a Muslim who was “born in Africa,” insists that transgender people are part of a “terrorist movement” and claims that rising criticism of Israel is part of a plot to “suppress Republican turnout enough to bring about Democratic control of Congress, Mr. Trump’s re-impeachment and ‘the ultimate communist Islamic takeover of America.’”
