Conservative Rep. Mike Lawler (R-New York), who is considering a possible gubernatorial run in New York State in 2026, held a town hall event in Somers, New York on Sunday night, May 4. And the congressman grew frustrated when he was bombarded with boos and jeers from critics of President Donald Trump's policies — including tariffs and mass layoffs of federal workers.
One of the voters who spoke out was social worker Emily Feiner. When security was physically removing her from the event, other attendees broke out in chants of "Let her stay, let her stay!" and "Shame, shame!"
Jennifer Cabrera, who chairs the Westchester-Putnam chapter of the Working Families Party, filmed Feiner's removal. And according to Channel 12 News in Westchester, New York, Cabrera herself was asked to leave.

Channel 12 News' Katerina Belales explains, "The video shows private security asking local social worker Emily Feiner to leave, though it's unclear why she was specifically told to go. Feiner refused and was eventually physically lifted out of the venue last night….. Afterward, Lawler urged the audience to behave as he tried to continue answering questions."
Although Lawler is a Trump supporter, he is widely regarded as a moderate Republican and isn't known for being bombastic.
Some of Lawler's allies believe he would perform well against Democratic incumbent Gov. Kathy Hochul in the general election if he ran for governor and won the GOP nomination.
However, Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-New York) is also being mentioned as a possible candidate.
