Watch: Lauren Boebert accuses 'state actor' Facebook of 'silencing' conservatives

United States Congresswoman Lauren Boebert (R-Colorado) accused Facebook of being "a state actor" that targets conservatives during a Sunday morning appearance on Fox News.

Boebert is one of many GOP lawmakers and conservative pundits who believe that the social media giant's crackdown on misinformationinfringes upon their right to spread it.

"Facebook's censorship isn't just a private entity acting alone. But this makes Facebook a state actor and therefore the full First Amendment protections apply. Never again do I want to hear another member of Congress say, 'oh but Facebook is a private company.' No. They are a state actor silencing, suppressing, and reducing the distribution of speech," Boebert told host Dan Bongino.

Boebert alluded to the Department of Homeland Security's proposed Disinformation Governance Board, which was canceled on Friday by Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas amid right-wing pushback.

"They need to be treated as such and we protect free speech here and they destroyed DHS's, uh, we destroyed DHS's disinformation board," she said. "Facebook should take note how serious we are about protecting Americans' right to free speech."
