Right-wing organization paid Kimberly Guilfoyle's $60,000 Stop the Steal rally speaking fee: report

Donald Trump Junior's fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle's massive speaking fee at former President Donald Trump's Stop the Steal rally on January 6th, 2021 was paid by a pro-Trump group, according to CNN.

The outlet reported on Tuesday afternoon that Turning Point USA, which was founded by right-wing podcaster Charlie Kirk, shelled out $60,000 to Guilfoyle for her two-and-a-half-minute address. That breaks down to $400 per second.

The donor-financed sum was first revealed by United States Representative Zoe Lofgren (D-California) following yesterday's second public hearing hosted by House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the United States Capitol.

"Lofgren spoke after the Committee's hearing on Monday" and "highlighted $250 million raised by the Save America PAC and Trump campaign. But those entities did not pay Guilfoyle's fee," sources said.

"For example, we know that Guilfoyle was paid for the introduction she gave at the speech on January 6. She received compensation for that," Lofgren explained to CNN's Jake Tapper. "I'm not saying it's a crime, but I'm saying it's grift."

Consequently, veteran federal prosecutors noted on Monday that Trump's fundraising efforts predicated on his Big Lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him may themselves be criminal.

“The Trump campaign knew that these claims of voter fraud were false yet they continued to barrage small-dollar donors with emails encouraging them to donate to something called the ‘Official Election Defense Fund,’” the House of Representatives' Senior Investigative Counsel Amanda Wick said. “The Select Committee discovered no such fund existed.”

Ex-US Attorney Barbara McQuade added that "if [Trump] is using a lie as a false pretense to collect money from people, that could also be a charge of wire fraud, so, in that way, we may have seen an expansion of the potential liability here."
