'Key to watch': Newly elected GOP senator has 3 words for Republicans giving him 'heat'

Senator-elect John Curtis (R-UT) — who is replacing longtime Senator Mitt Romney — on Sunday had three words for Republicans criticizing his willingness to stand up to Donald Trump: "Bring it on".

"You've taken heat, especially online — social media, from supporters of the president," ABC host Jonathan Karl said to the newly elected GOP lawmaker, saying, 'What's wrong with you? Just get in line already. Why are you asking questions? Why are you saying you have concerns?'"

Curtis replied, "Listen, anybody that wants to give me heat for doing my job, bring it on. It's my constitutional responsibility. These same people are the same people who would have said earlier, 'You need to take power back from the executive branch. You need to do your job. I have heard that from these exact same people.' That's what I'm doing."

The Independent columnist Ahmed Baba replied: This will be key to watch. Trump can only afford to lose 3 GOP Senate votes and his House majority is razor thin. Couple Curtis’s comments with the 38 Republicans who defied Trump in the debt ceiling vote, and you have dynamic that could limit the absolute power Trump wants.

Carl Sprayberry, Democratic candidate for Georgia State House District 139, added: Senator-elect John Curtis says Trump's various nominees lick donkey balls and he will vote against a ton of them."

Utah state Democratic Senator Nate Blouin commented: "i should be nicer to @CurtisUT."
