Jim Jordan unsure Trump DOJ will probe Biden: 'I never said I was for moving forward on impeachment'
16 July 2024
Last year, Donald Trump vowed to "to appoint a special prosecutor if he’s re-elected to 'go after' President Biden and his family," according to the New York Times.
Shortly after special counsel Jack Smith indicted the former president on criminal charges over Trump's mishandling of classified documents, the MAGA leader said, "I will appoint a real special prosecutor to go after the most corrupt president in the history of the United States of America, Joe Biden, and the entire Biden crime family. I will totally obliterate the Deep State."
According to a Tuesday Axios report, House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH) said "he doubts a Trump Justice Department will launch an investigation into President Biden and his family," during an event hosted by the news outlet.

"I don't think that's the plan," the Ohio lawmaker said. "I think President Trump's going to be focused on securing the border, making sure the tax cuts stay in place and putting back in place common-sense energy policy."
Axios notes, "As House Republicans' investigations into the Biden family have failed to build steam for an impeachment vote, some in the GOP have looked to a future Trump administration for retribution instead."
The news outlet notes that despite Jordan's push to oust the president, when the GOP leader was "asked if he believes Biden or his family members have committed uncharged crimes, Jordan said: 'I don't know that. I've said all along – I never said I was for moving forward on impeachment. What I've said is I think the case is compelling.'"
