Conservative CNN analyst accused of 'shilling' for Trump to get a ride on Air Force One

Former GOP operative Ana Navarro accused conservative CNN analyst Scott Jennings of being a "shill" for President Donald Trump in exchange for seeking favors from the president, such as a ride on Air Force One.

Speaking on CNN's "NewsNight" on Wednesday, Navarro said Trump is living up to what he promised during the 2024 election campaign.

“Donald Trump campaigned on being the retribution, right? That was actually a word he used,” said Navarro. “He campaigned on the fact he was going to be a dictator. Guess what? He‘s living up to what he promised, to [deliver] retribution and to act as a dictator," she said, referring to the president's 2023 statement where he vowed to be a dictator from 'day one.'"

Many political observers and activists have been arguing that American democracy is heading in a wrong direction under the Trump administration, and several recent steps he has taken have been criticized as being undemocratic and "authoritarian" in nature.

Jennings, who was also present on the show, responded by downplaying Navarro's concern and said, "Come on, Ana. He did not promise to be a dictator."

“You still don’t get it. All these months later, the left still doesn’t get it,” Jennings added.

To this, Navarro said: “Listen, I’m not going to shill for him, even if it doesn’t get me a ride on Air Force One.”

On Wednesday, it was reported that Jennings is considering running for Senate to replace retiring Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY). He is reportedly waiting to see if Trump will be receptive to the idea.

“If the president wants me, I’ll run,” the conservative analyst said at an afterparty following Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Dinner, per the Daily Beast.
