Four years have passed since the death of disgraced financier Jeffrey Epstein, who was found dead in his jail cell on August 10, 2019 from an apparent suicide. And revelations about Epstein, who was facing federal sex trafficking charges, are still emerging.

In an article published on August 15, the Daily Beast's Kate Briquelet emphasizes that JPMorgan Chase, according to court documents, continued to receive client referrals from Epstein "years after he left the bank." And one of them was for Kathy Ruemmler, who served under two Democratic presidents — first Bill Clinton, then Barack Obama — and went on to work for defense firms in the private sector.

Briquelet reports that Epstein assistant Lesley Groff, in February 2019, e-mailed Mary Erdoes (who headed JPMorgan Chase's asset and wealth management division) about Ruemmler doing business with the investment bank.

Groff told Erdoes, "Jeffrey wanted me to reach out to you re his very good friend and former White House counsel to Pres. Barak (sic) Obama, Kathy Ruemmler…. She would like to open an account with JPM. Jeffrey requests she deal with you personally. Might this be possible?"

Erdoes replied that she didn't "handle accounts myself" but would be happy to make sure Ruemmler was "in the right hands." And Erdoes e-mailed JPMorgan General Counsel Stacey Friedman, saying she thought Ruemmler "would be a great client."

Ruemmler reports, "The court records show that years earlier, Epstein referred another high-profile client: Nick Ribis, the former head of Donald Trump's hotel and casino empire…. The unredacted documents also share more information about Epstein's work with billionaire Leon Black, who is currently fighting a vicious legal battle with a law firm that's represented three of his sexual abuse accusers."
