'Bring it on Mike': Ex-GOP rep welcomes latest Republican threat to Jan. 6 committee

Former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-FL) is proving he's not afraid of House Republicans' plan to investigate the January 6 committee, following President Donald Trump's pardon of hundreds of rioters who stormed the Capitol four years ago.

This comes after Speaker Mike Johnson on Wednesday said he stands behind the president's decision and told Politico that Rep. Barry Loudermilk (R-GA) will lead the probe under House Judiciary Committee Chair Jim Jordan (R-OH).

Kinzinger — a member of the now defunct January 6 committee — took to the social media platform Bluesky, writing: "The house is starting another Jan 6 committee. I actually look forward to re-litigating this. Let’s do it. 187 minutes of watching people assault cops, then pardoning them. Bring it on Mike"

The former Republican lawmaker was one of Trump's most vocal critics ahead of the 2024 election, even becoming a member of Republicans for Harris.

According to Roll Call, Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said on the Senate floor, "Why on earth is the president already spending so much time focused on the past … instead of focused on costs, and jobs, and improving health care for the American people?"

Loudermilk, however, told Politico that "'looking backwards' was a key aspect of the panel’s ability to make changes for the future."
