'I want to be a werewolf': Joe Scarborough rips Herschel Walker for 'rambling, incoherent' campaign speech

Although the 2022 midterms have given Republicans a narrow majority in the U.S. House of Representatives, Democrats will hold the U.S. Senate and could even slightly expand their Senate majority if Democratic incumbent Sen. Raphael Warnock defeats his GOP challenger, Herschel Walker, in a runoff election in Georgia. Walker is still campaigning aggressively, and the MAGA Republican delved into horror themes during a bizarre speech in McDonough, Georgia — a speech that MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough slammed as “rambling incoherence.”

Walker told the crowd, “I don't know if you know, but vampires are some cool people, are they not? But let me tell you something that I found out: A werewolf can kill a vampire. Did you know that? I never knew that. So, I don't want to be a vampire anymore. I want to be a werewolf.”

On MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” host Scarborough (a Never Trump conservative and former GOP congressman) lambasted Walker and cited him as a prime example of Trump’s negative influence on his former party. Scarborough is among the ex-Republicans who left the GOP to express his total disdain for Trumpism and the MAGA movement.

Scarborough said of Walker’s speech, “I’ve got to say, it’s some rambling incoherence taken to Olympian levels. But that is what Donald Trump has brought to the Georgia Republican Party. That is what he’s brought to the GOP, and it’s why people are turning away from Donald Trump. They understand why they didn’t win back the Senate this year, but my gosh, again, it’s, you know, you sit there and laugh at some point. It really is a tragedy that that guy who is so ill-equipped on so many levels to even be the mayor of his hometown in Georgia, according to people from his hometown in Georgia, might be a United States senator.”

Warnock, Walker's opponent, is a Protestant minister, yet the Christian nationalist movement much prefers his MAGA opponent. Walker has been campaigning against abortion even though the Daily Beast has reported that in 2009, he paid a woman he impregnated to have an abortion — an allegation Walker has vehemently denied.

Georgia’s 2022 U.S. Senate race has been close. After November 8, Warnock had a narrow lead in the vote count. But because that lead was under 50 percent, the race went to a runoff under Georgia election rules. Democrats now have 50 seats in the Senate compared to 49 for Republicans, but if Warnock wins, Democrats will have 51 seats. If Walker wins, however, the Senate will have a 50-50 Republican/Democrat split, but Democrats will still be, in effect, the Senate’s majority party because of Vice President Kamala Harris’ power to break a tie.
