Hillary Clinton's New Campaign Ad Lets Republicans Do the Talking on Why Trump Is the Worst
04 May 2016
Donald Trump is now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, a fact that is upsetting not just for many Americans but for much of the entire world. That includes a whole lot of the GOP—Trump’s own party—which has spent the last few decades building a big tent of racists, misogynists, homophobes, nativists, Islamophobes, gun-happy ammosexuals and more (let me know what I left out), yet is somehow surprised at all the ugliness manifested in the copper-wire-toupeed human nightmare that is Donald Trump.
Hillary Clinton’s team, recognizing the golden potential of the insults Trump's fellow Republicans have hurled at him over the last few months, has collected some of the very best into a blistering campaign ad. Opening with a clip of Trump proclaiming himself “a unifier,” it proceeds to trot out a who’s who of highly visible Republicans proving the Donald will be anything but. There’s Mitt Romney calling Trump a “phony,” Marco Rubio dubbing him “the most vulgar person ever to aspire to the presidency,” Lindsey Graham calling him a “race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot,” and my personal favorite, Jeb! Bush sighing as he states that “[Trump] needs therapy.” That’s interspliced with clips of Trump—consider it a stroll down his campaign's memory lane—generally saying and being the worst thing.
When the mucky-mucks in your opponent's party repeatedly call him unfit to govern, it's good to let them speak for themselves. And this ad does just that.
