'Pathetic coward': Haley ruthlessly mocked after announcing she 'will be voting for Trump'

Former South Carolina governor and 2024 GOP presidential candidate Nikki Haley announced Wednesday that she will be voting for Donald Trump in November.

CNN's Kaitlan Collins reported via X (formerly Twitter), "'I will be voting for Trump,' Nikki Haley says. 'Having said that, I stand by what I said in my suspension speech.' She notes Trump hasn't reached out to the voters who supported her. (And continue to do so in surprising numbers in primaries still happening.)"

NBC News reported in February: "In recent weeks, Haley has repeatedly called Trump 'unhinged,' accused him of cozying up to Russian President Vladimir Putin, criticized him for confusing her with former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and declared him 'not qualified' to serve as president, among other criticisms."

Several lawmakers, journalists and political experts immediately reacted online to the failed GOP candidate's announcement.

Democratic strategist Sawyer Hackett said: "Nikki Haley just said she’s voting for Trump. Her 3 months ago: 'We can't have someone that sits and mocks men and women trying to protect America. It's a pattern of chaos. It’s a pattern of irresponsibility.'"

Former Trump communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin commented: "Disappointing but not surprising. I lost all faith in politicians a long time ago. Trump is a threat to democracy and has no business being near the White House."

UVA Center for Politics director Larry Sabato said: "OF COURSE Nikki Haley is voting for Trump. There are very few prominent Republicans with the courage of Liz Cheney."

The Bulwark publisher Sarah Longwell wrote: "What a pathetic coward."

Lowell also noted: "Nikki Haley is supporting the guy she said this about: 'Trump is going to side with a madman [Putin] who’s made no bones about the fact he wants to destroy America.'"
