Political commentator and former GOP strategist Tim Miller said Monday more right-wing Americans, from Joe Rogan to Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), are being jolted into "reality" by President Donald Trump's policies.
“I’m just living in reality from here on out," Greene recently told a podcaster while talking about the administration's harsh immigration actions.
"So, welcome to reality," Miller quipped during a segment on MSNBC, while reacting to Greene's statement. "The waters warm here."
"That's a good place to start," he continued. "But there is this kernel of truth there about about where the push back can come from, particularly on this issue when it comes to immigration, is that new people have to live in reality that haven't been before."
Miller added: "I think this is true to the Rogan point, this is true to folks that are watching other networks this time. Like what has to happen is that what Trump is doing has to be bad enough that people's unreality is pierced."
Speaking about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) crackdown, Miller said the authorities were brutalizing people.
"This guy that was the security guard outside the weed farm in California who was a U.S. citizen, a veteran," Miller explained. "And he gets targeted, he gets tear gassed, racially targeted, jailed for three days, two days in isolation, where he said he was naked and the lights were on."
Miller said the media must do its job of showing what is happening on the ground.
"But if all of us can do our job of showing people the videos of this, of what is happening and having people see firsthand the way regular people are being menaced," he said. "The way old ladies going to get meat for a stew ... the way that U.S. citizens are being menaced."
He added: "Like those stories, the examples of U.S. citizens, of veterans getting menaced, of people trying to live their lives, having it be disrupted by these masked agents. There is a new batch of people that can be got on that, that are not for that, as long as they are made aware that it happened."
