'What about Ginni Thomas?' Social media outraged at lack of accountability for Supreme Court Justice's wife

Following reports of the Jan. 6 committee’s decision to refer Trump’s criminal charges to the Justice Department, social media users are asking why Virginia ‘Ginni’ Thomas didn’t get the same treatment, Newsweek reports.

The wife of long-time Supreme Court judge Clarence Thomas, Thomas was in the spotlight earlier this year after a texting thread between her and Trump’s former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows came to light. In the texts, Thomas urged Meadows to use his influence and power to help overturn the 2020 election.

Not only was she in cahoots with Meadows, but Alternet previously reported that the conservative activist communicated with John Eastman – the Republican lawyer who received criminal referral from the Jan. 6 committee for his attempt to deem Mike Pence powerful enough to discard electoral college votes.

Twitter users are not happy about the committee’s failure to refer Thomas as well.

Jonathan Goldman tweeted, "How do you make a criminal referral for John Eastman but not Ginni Thomas? They literally conspired to overthrow democracy together."

“So Ginni Thomas just gets away with it because she's married to a Supreme Court Justice?" another Twitter user asked.

Adam Rifkin tweeted "What about Ginni Thomas? #TrumpCoupAttempt" along with a video of a June MSNBC segment on Thomas and Eastman’s communication.

It is not confirmed that the Justice Department will carry out the recommended charges against Trump and Eastman. And according to a tweet from CBS correspondent Robert Costa, it is currently “unclear” whether the “complete transcript” from Thomas’ September meeting with the Jan. 6 committee will be released to the public.
