Ex-GA GOP Lt. Gov. fires back after state Republican Party announces his ouster

Geoff Duncan, the former Republican lieutenant governor of Georgia, on Monday was expelled from the state's Republican Party over "alleged disloyalty," according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

The Georgia Republicans announced Duncan's ouster via X, writing: "MEDIA ADVISORY: Geoff Duncan having been formally expelled, we ask that you refer to him as 'expelled Republican Geoff Duncan' or 'ousted Republican Geoff Duncan' when you go to him for quotes trashing President Trump and the Republican Party.'"

The party tagged CNN and the Atlanta Journal Constitution (AJC) in its announcement.

Aiming his response at party Chair Josh McKoon, Duncan replied, "Hard to believe this is a good use of time for a party that’s only got a limited amount of time to figure out mass deportations, world peace and global tariffs. Learn how to take a victory lap not light another dumpster fire @JoshMcKoon"

According to Fox 5, the Georgia GOP's "resolution outlines a series of allegations against Duncan, including accusations of undermining Republican candidates, endorsing Democratic opponents, and leveraging his GOP affiliation for personal gain."

Weeks before President Joe Biden withdrew from the 2024 presidential race, the former Republican lieutenant governor announced that he planned to vote for the president's reelection.

"Unlike Trump, I’ve belonged to the GOP my entire life. This November, I am voting for a decent person I disagree with on policy over a criminal defendant without a moral compass," Duncan wrote in an op-ed published by the AJC.

The ex-GOP leader took his criticism of President-elect Donald Trump further when he announced that Vice President Kamala Harris would get his vote.
