Real estate millionaire Robert Bigelow has been one of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' top donors, giving $20 million to the DeSantis-associated super-PAC Never Back Down. But Bigelow, according to Politico reporter Kierra Frazier, has grown increasingly frustrated with DeSantis' performance in the 2024 GOP presidential primary — and is considering abandoning the Florida governor and throwing his support to frontrunner Donald Trump.
Polls released in early November aren't looking good for DeSantis, who trails Trump by 43 percent among Republican primary voters in a CBS News survey. A CNN poll released on November 7 found Trump ahead of DeSantis by 44 percent.
Frazier notes, "Bigelow has been a staunch supporter of DeSantis, once saying that he would 'go without food' in order to support DeSantis' White House ambitions."
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to hold office again?
Bigelow told the Financial Times, "I've got to look at who would probably be the strongest commander, with the most experience ... And that's only one guy…. Who would you want as a commander? I'd want somebody that would be a hell of an a**kicker if he needed to be. On the face of it, you lean toward Trump."
