How long should someone be barred from appearing on a news channel after using a racist smear to attack a fellow guest? According to a new report from the Daily Beast, Fox News seems to think the answer is two weeks.
That's how long David Bossie, President Donald Trump's former deputy campaign manager, has reportedly been suspended from Fox News after he told black Democratic strategist Joel Payne on-air that he was "out of his cotton-picking mind."
"I've got some relatives who picked cotton, and I'm not going to sit here and allow you to attack me like that," Payne said in response.
Ironically, Bossie has been responding to critics of Trump administration policies who drew comparisons to Nazi Germany. In trying to ward off these criticisms, he used an insult that evokes the days of another racist regime: the Confederacy.
