President Donald Trump's favorite Democratic lawmaker, Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania, has already raked in money from GOP donors while repeatedly trashing his fellow Democrats. Now he is taking his slow breach from the Democrats one step further by vowing to not campaign against his fellow Pennsylvania senator, Dave McCormick — even though McCormick is a Republican.
"Well, I would absolutely never move against my friend,' he said, referring to McCormick as a 'great guy,'" reported The Hill's Mira Bhakta on Wednesday, referring to an interview from the previous day that Fetterman gave The Washington Examiner which previously had not received widespread attention.
Bhakta added, "The two Pennsylvania senators represent just one of three states with split representation in the Senate. They have done media appearances together, co-sponsored bills, and in July, they filed a joint fundraising effort. The new political action committee, called Common Ground PA, is accepting donations from those who want to support both purple state senators."
Bhakta then quoted a spokesperson who told a local outlet called The Center Square, “This group of donors value the collaboration exhibited by Senators McCormick and Fetterman for Pennsylvania and want to support both of them."
Fetterman aroused speculation that he was going to flip sides back in July when The Center Square reported on a PAC made to support both Fetterman and McCormick.
“First spotted by Politico on Wednesday, Common Ground PA was announced as a new joint fundraising committee,” The Center Square's John Cole reported at the time. “Common Ground PA filed with the Federal Election Commission, known as the FEC, on Monday. They list four joint fundraising participants: Every Vote PAC, Pennsylvania Honor, Fetterman for PA, and Friends of Dave McCormick.”
Cole added, “Fetterman is listed as the leadership PAC sponsor for Every Vote PAC, while McCormick is named as the leadership PAC sponsor for Pennsylvania Honor.”
