An article published in Intelligencer Friday has revealed that former Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. and Sen. John Fetterman's (D-PA) past and present staff has serious concerns about his mental heath and behavior in recent months. The article documented an alleged change in Fetterman's conduct from the time he was elected up to the present, as observed by those around him.
“You can’t reform a carton of sour milk,” Fetterman said of Palestinians, according to notes from a meeting. Fetterman said he did not believe in a two-state solution, adding that he had never met an Arab person who would condemn Hamas. “Correction,” the notes from the meeting said. “Only a single Arab he has met with that staff was present for wouldn’t outright condemn Hamas.”
Fetterman, who opposed a ceasefire in Gaza, reportedly said: “Let’s get back to killing.”
"Kill them all," he said.

The article further noted that Fetterman denied this account in a statement and said, “Any reference to killing was solely about Hamas, and I do support the destruction of that organization, down to its last member.”
Even Fetterman's wife, Gisele Fetterman, was upset with his position on the Israel-Gaza conflict.
“One former staffer recalled overhearing Gisele on speakerphone that December saying to Fetterman, ‘Who did I marry? Where is the man I married?’” the article says.
“'They are bombing refugee camps. How can you support this?' the staffer recalled her saying with tears in her eyes.'That’s all propaganda,' Fetterman replied," according to the article.

Political commentators took to social media to react to the article, calling the senator's behavior concerning.
Author Kate Willett wrote on the social platform X, "This article portrays Fetterman not only as a bloodthirsty racist but as a cruel, unhinged and possibly emotionally abusive husband. What a tragedy to have children with a man who has revealed himself to be this monster. Awful situation."
Journalist Daniel Pierson of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote: I don't know Fetterman very well, he hates my newspaper and rarely comes to Philadelphia. But I have met with him twice, before and after the stroke. The negative qualities were always there as far as I can tell.
Writer Malcolm Harris, reacting to a part of the article where Fetterman complained he was being "cancelled," said: "Fear of cancel culture does sound like a symptom of mental illness when you put it that way"

Democratic pollster Matt McDermott wrote, "This is a really difficult story to read, but it leaves no doubt that John Fetterman is suffering severely and should step down from the Senate to focus on his health.
Conservative writer Curt Mills said, "If even some of this is true, he’s unrecognizable to many of those who have known him closely. Makes it more demented and sinister that neocons are exploiting his new form and trotting him out as a mascot."
Journalist Emma Vigeland wrote, "Someone save Gisele Fetterman"
