FBI plans to conduct another search for classified documents at Pence residence 'in the coming days': report

Three lThe Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) plans to conduct another search in former Vice President Mike Pence's Indiana home, NBC reports.

Per NBC, the search — which was first reported by the Wall Street Journal — comes after Greg Jacob, Pence's attorney, wrote in a letter to the National Archives that a "small number" of classified documents were found at the residence last month after Pence requested the search.

According to Jacob, Pence requested the search of his Indiana home be done by "outside counsel" after classified documents were found at President Joe Biden's Delaware residence, NBC reports.

Jacob said Pence “was unaware of the existence of sensitive or classified documents" that the counsel found in his home, and the classified materials were “inadvertently boxed and transported” to the home "at the end" of Trump's presidency.

The letter from Jacob noted that FBI officials visited the Indiana home a few days later to retrieve the documents "at the request of" the Department of Justice, but according to the Wall Street Journal,had not conducted their own search.

As the Journal reports, "A person close to Mr. Pence said his legal team considered their earlier search exhaustive and doesn’t believe additional classified documents exist there."

Still the Department of Justice is currently in communication with the former vice president's legal team regarding an official date of the search, which is expected to occur "in the coming days."
