Streets near Atlanta courthouse to shut down as 4th Trump indictment looms

After being arraigned on four federal charges in his third criminal indictment on August 4, former President Donald Trump is waiting to see if there will be a fourth. Fulton County, Georgia District Attorney Fani Willis, like special counsel Jack Smith, has been investigating Trump's efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election results.

An indictment in Willis' case appears likely, and the Fulton County's Sheriff's Office has announced that streets near an Atlanta courthouse will be closed down for 12 days beginning Monday, August 7.

WSB-TV Channel 2 Atlanta reports, "This is part of its security plan should indictments" be announced.

Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat told Channel 2 Atlanta, "If an indictment came today, we would be ready."

Natalie Ammons, a spokesperson for the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, said that Labat's "top priority is to make sure that everyone that still comes to conduct business at the courthouse and the government center or anywhere near this footprint stays safe."

Willis has been the target of racist insults and threats of violence from Trump supporters as the former president's fourth criminal indictment appears to be drawing closer.
