'Recycling rhetoric': Ex-Trump aide expects former boss to blame advisers for waning numbers

Alyssa Farah Griffin — CNN political analyst and The View co-host — left Donald Trump's administration in December of 2020 after she publicly admitted the former president did, in fact, lose the election to President Joe Biden.

"Dear MAGA — I am one of you," the former Trump communications director wrote via social media. "Before I worked for @realDonaldTrump, I worked for [ex-Trump Chief of Staff] @MarkMeadows & [US Rep.] @Jim_Jordan (R-OH) & the [Republican] @freedomcaucus. I marched in the 2010 Tea Party rallies. I campaigned w/ Trump & voted for him. But I need you to hear me: the Election was NOT stolen. We lost."

During a conversation with CNN's Abby Phillip on Tuesday night, Farah Griffin predicted that her former boss will likely take a similar path in the case he loses to 2024 Democratic nominee — most likely Vice President Kamala Harris — in November.

"I think that as Kamala Harris keeps turning up in the polls, Donald Trump is going to get frustrated with advisers," Farah Griffin said.

"[He's going to] get concerned about where the election might turn out, and you're going to hear him start recycling the rhetoric about, 'If they win, the election is going to be rigged," the ex-Trump aide continued. "The sentiment feels very similar to July, August of 2020. Now — 98, 97 days — a lot can happen. She's going to have low moments. He's going to have high ones. But expect that rhetoric to come back."

Phillip emphasized, "I mean, this would be the third cycle in a row for Donald Trump using that exact playbook."
