Trump-endorsed Senate candidate doesn't think nursing home residents should vote

The Wisconsin Republican Senate candidate vying to oust US Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) this fall suggested one of the "irregularities" that may have hindered the 2020 election process was nursing home voters.

As a result, Eric Hovde suggested during a recent Guy Benson Show interview, nursing home residents should not be able to vote.

Politico reported Sunday, April 7 that President Joe "Biden is stronger with seniors than he was four years ago, even as his personal image is significantly diminished since he was elected last time," while former President Donald "Trump is ascendant with the youngest bloc of the electorate."

According to the report:

If these changes are real, it would have profound effects on the coalitions both campaigns are building for November. No Republican has won young voters since George H.W. Bush’s landslide victory in 1988, and no Democrat has carried the senior vote since Al Gore hammered Bush’s son, George W. Bush, on Social Security in 2000.

“Do I believe the [2020] election was stolen?" Hovde said in audio posted to X (formerly Twitter) by Heartland. "No, but did things happen in that election that were very troublesome? Absolutely. And I can point them out right here in Wisconsin."

Speaking on the right-wing show, Eric Hovde — who's also a multi-millionaire California bank owner — added, "If you're in a nursing home, you only have five to six months life expectancy. Almost nobody in a nursing home is at a point to vote."

The Trump-backed Senate hopeful then said, "We had nursing homes—where the sheriff of Racine investigated—where you had 100 percent voting in nursing homes. Well, if you’re in a nursing home, you only have a five, six-month life expectancy. Almost nobody in a nursing home is in a point to vote. And you had children, adult children showing up saying, 'Who voted for my 85 or 90-year-old father or mother?'"

According to The Daily Beast, in stark contrast to the message of "togetherness" he's touting throughout his campaign, "Hovde has long aligned himself with and donated to some of the most divisive and extreme Republicans."
