Marco Rubio and Donald Trump
Supporters of President Donald Trump's Make America Great Again (MAGA) movement are strongly criticizing FBI Director Kash Patel after he said there was no conspiracy over convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein’s death.
On Saturday, Patel denied reports he was quitting the bureau over the Epstein files, writing on the social platform X that he served at Trump’s pleasure, while also claiming there is no conspiracy in the “Epstein files.”
“The conspiracy theories just aren’t true, never have been,” he wrote Saturday. “It’s an honor to serve the President of the United States, and I’ll continue to do so for as long as he calls on me.”

Patel’s statement came in response to reports of internal strife among Trump-appointed officials — including Deputy FBI Director Dan Bongino and Attorney General Pam Bondi — over a recent joint FBI-DOJ memo. The memo reconfirmed that Epstein died by suicide and stated there was no “client list” found among his files, contrary to expectations promoted by some in conservative circles.
Many right-wing accounts on X strongly reacted to Patel's post.
“Sounds like you might be in the files, Kash,” Polling USA, a right-wing account dedicated to political polling, wrote on X.
“It was YOU who said Bill Gates is in #EpsteinFiles & now YOU are the hiding those files. Inexcusable!" right-wing lawyer Robert Barnes replied to Patel's post.
Sean Stricken, a MAGA martial artist, reacted to Patel's post and wrote: "This isnt going away," while using an expletive.

Former advisor to Barack Obama Tommy Vietor wrote: "Patel spent years exploiting Epstein's horrific abuse to build his profile in MAGA world. It helped get him a job that he's not remotely qualified to do, so now his options are admit he lied all along or participate in the Epstein coverup. Don't think we know which it is yet."
Conservative commentator Sarah Longwell wrote: "'Never have been'
So, not the whole time you were hyping them as an election issue?"
